Summer Camp 2024

It’s time to start gearing up for Summer Camp! This year, the Troop will attend Camp Daniel Boone (CDB) in Canton, NC from June 9 – 15.

The full cost for Camp is $440 per Scout (plus any addition MB supply fees), but that does not include credits for working Tree Lot. Each Scout’s amount may vary depending on the number of shifts they worked. The total amount each Scout will receive will be available soon.

CDB has posted the classes they are planning to offer, and they now have posted the merit badge class schedule.

Please use that information to complete the Summer Camp MB sign-up form. Scouts (with the help of their parents) need to do some pre-planning for camp.  You should plan to sign-up for one or two Eagle merit badges (if that is the goal). It is much easier to complete these at camp!  Also, please note that some activities/merit badges require additional fees.

Scouts should enter their top nine MB choices for camp (in order of priority). This must be completed by March 24.

As a reminder, Scouts will need to have forms A, B and C (which requires a doctor’s signature) for Summer Camp. There is a link to the forms on the Troop’s [Resources] page. If your previous A, B and C health form is less than 1 year old (for the entire duration of camp), you can use that.  Adults and Scouts need these forms completed by May 21st!

Also, summer camp t-shirts are optional but available [link to shirt design]. They cost $20 each and come in a choice of cotton or dry-fit. Please email Ms. Jean Hilyard with the Scout shirt size and choice of cotton or dry fit. This probably goes without saying, but if you email Jean and request a shirt – you are agreeing to pay the $20. All shirt orders due by April 9.

For reference, we have three parents who will be attending camp as this year’s adult leaders: Scoutmaster Roe Runels, Ms. Jean Hilyard and Mr. Jason Atkins. A huge thanks to each of them for braving a week with our 20 Scouts!
