January Campout: Providence Canyon

It will definitely be a bit cool, but we do have a campout planned for the end of January (28 – 30)We will heading about 2.5 hours south to Providence Canyon.

The deadline to sign-up for this event was January 18. The Scouts will finalize plans for their patrols at the January 25 meeting.

If you want to learn more about Providence Canyon, please see the [park website]. Anyone attending will want to bring $5 cash for park entry/parking; we will be camping at [Pioneer Campsite #3].

Mr. John Colatosti is overseeing/coordinating this campout. Adults attending the campout will work with John to plan meals. Adults should bring something for themselves to eat for Saturday lunch; this needs to be “trail food” (i.e. – something you don’t have to cook that can easily be transported on the hike). Please reach to him if you have any questions about this event.

We do expect to use a good bit of firewood due to the cold, so anyone who has the space is asked to bring extra firewood (4 – 8 logs per Scout). You do not need to go purchase the firewood; we have plenty stacked at the Scout Hut (in the back wooded area – near the remaining mulch pile).

As a final note, please ensure you pack extra blankets/sleeping bags. The weather is expected to be nice (but cold – low 20s). We want to ensure Scouts and adults all stay as warm as possible!
