For August, we are going with a one day/night event at Raven Cliff Falls (near Helen, GA). This will take place August 16 – 17.
The Falls is one of north Georgia’s most beautiful cascades! The trail itself ascends to the Falls alongside a mountain stream that cuts through the forest. If we follow a similar path from prior years, the hike will be a combined total of 4.9 miles there and back (a little less than 2.5 miles each way). The rise in elevation is 700 feet from the parking area.
Hiking time plus trail rest breaks, taking photos, and eating lunch at the Falls will be approximately 3.5 – 4 hours. We did this hike a couple of years ago and everyone really enjoyed it!
The adventure does not need to stop with the hike. For those interested, the plan is to do some backpacking in the area and then find a place to camp for the night. This will be a good “intro” to backpacking (or minimalist camping).
We are asking those interested to take a moment to sign-up using the link below. Please make sure to note if you plan to do the day hike & the backpacking overnight OR the day hike ONLY.

Planning is still underway for this trip, but we wanted to go ahead and share the basics now. This announcement will be updated as additional information becomes available.
